Year 6
Welcome to our Year 6 class page.
Dear families, |
How is it possible that we are in the last half term of the academic year! This year has flown by and it has been a privilege to teach your wonderful children. I have put some of the main things of note below but as always, I will be on the door each morning if you have any questions.
Our class entrance is on the KS1 playground. You will see myself or Miss Hussain at the door. If you ever need to speak to us or want to have a chat about your child’s learning, just say hello in the morning! If you need a longer conversation with one of us, just let us know and we can arrange a time.
Important information
We have a P.E lesson on Wednesday and on a Thursday, so your child will need to come to school in their P.E kit. They need to wear:
- a white top
- black shorts or black jogging pants
- plain trainers
- a black jumper or jacket
- If your child wears a scarf, they need to bring a sports scarf in for their active sessions.
We also have extra P.E provision this half term and have access to 6 cricket sessions each Monday morning!
Expected home learning Reading at home: your child needs to read at least three times a week to ensure progress. For each read, you need to sign their reading record. If your child has read three times, they will get a raffle ticket to be have a chance to win a prize at the end of the half term. Practise their arithmetic skills on Arithmagicians 3 times a week. Develop their spelling confidence on Spelling Shed 3 times a week. I will also be sending home different parts of a transition to secondary school project across the half term for you and your child to explore and prepare for September. |

Our next Science topic is all about the human and eye and how we see light.
Here is a good website to help your children understand the topic further. https://wwhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z3nnb9qw.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z3nnb9q |
Here is some of our topic's key vocabulary.
If you have Twitter, I will post pictures across the half term so you can see all of the fun we are having!
