Our Learning - Autumn Half Term One
In English we will be reading 'Winter's Child' and re-telling stories through drama. We will write captions and punctuate sentences correctly. We will then read and write poems.
In maths we will be working with numbers within 10. We will find one more and one less, count backwards and compare and order numbers. We will also learn how to use a number-line.
In science we will be learning about the seasons. We will think about which months are in each season and what the weather is like at that time of year.
Our geography topic is about the United Kingdom. We will look at the countries that make up the United Kingdom and what their capital cities are. We will learn our address and look at the differences between villages, towns and cities.
In computing we will develop mouse, keyboard control and basic computing skills using Purple Mash. We will also be using paint tools.
In religion we will be thinking about our beliefs and communities.
In PE we will concentrate on agility, balance and co-ordination. We will say how our feelings can affect our body and behaviour in PSHE.
We will be making sounds with our voices and instruments in music.

You will also receive a book to share. The sharing book is for you to read to your child. Please support your child in taking care of these books.
Homework
Year One tricky words will be sent home to read, learn and remember.
Spellings are sent home at the end of the week. The children will have a spelling quiz on the following Friday. Please support your child to learn these spellings.
Uniform
Please make sure that ALL items of clothing, including P.E kits, are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please note that trainers are not part of the school uniform and must not be worn for school unless it is PE day.
P.E
The children will have P.E on Thursdays. Please wear your PE kit to school on these days. Children must wear a white plain T-Shirt, black plain shorts/tracksuit bottoms/leggings, black plain tracksuit top/hoodie and trainers. No jewellery must be worn.
