Welcome to the autumn term in Year 5! This half term our big question will be ‘ Will we ever send another human to the moon?’
Literacy: We will be writing descriptive and explanation texts linked to our big question. Our class text is ‘Leon and the Place Between’ and ‘Sky Song’. This term we will use our reading and writing skills to expand our vocabulary, deepen our understanding of character’s personalities, behaviour and motives and to develop our use of different sentence structures within a fiction and non-fiction writing.
Maths: We will revise our understanding of place value, decimals, addition and subtraction including problems, angles, area and perimeter and statistics.
Topic: We will learn about the Earth, Sun and moon. We will also learn about the planets and research information about Neil Armstrong.
Science: We will investigate how the Earth, Sun and Moon orbit and learn about how this affects night and day.
ICT: we will be developing our programming skills using code to make a variety of things happen and to debug algorithms and solve problems with coding.
