This half term our learning challenge is ‘How far can you throw your shadow?’ We have been very busy finding out about how shadows are formed and how the size or position of the shadow can be changed. We have also made periscopes and we are learning about how light can be reflected. We are exploring how we can show reflections in our artwork too.
In Literacy, we have written stories about characters who were afraid of the dark and how they overcame their fear. We have tried really hard to use amazing description to bring our characters to life through the words we choose. We are also learning to perform poems linked to our topic.
In maths we have used our understanding of place value to help us to describe, compare and order numbers. We can also use our place value to add and subtract mentally or using written methods.
This term we have begun to learn how to welcome each other in Spanish and to follow simple instructions in Spanish. We are very excited to be learning a brand new language.
We have enjoyed a trip to Saddleworth museum where we linked up with children from a partner school. It was lovely to see some of our friends again and to share in a brand new experience at the museum. We had a fantastic time learning all about the Saddleworth Rushcart. We even had a go at morris dancing too!
